Maple: Arudino at 72 MHz

no comments

Just for the record and to save the links for myself: Maple from LeafLabas. “Maple is a 72 MHz 32 bits ARM Cortex M3 chip [...] built from open source components and a programming environment that is intuitively easy to use.”

Maple Leaf is built on the same form factor as the Arduino boards, so Arduino shields will fit. It has 20 kB RAM and 128 kB Flash, and is only $50 (the Arduino Uno is $30). Also interesting is the Maple Native, which brings 64KB RAM and 512KB Flash.

Finally, here’s Adam Feuer’s project, attaching a WiShield and making a wireless web server.

New Arduino Boards Ready

no comments

Arduino.cc just announced two new Arduino boards: The Arduino Uno, replacing the Duemilanove, and Arduino Mega 2560, succeeding the Mega. The Uno gets a programmable USB chip which can “make the board show up as a variety of USB devices (Keyboards, Mice, Joysticks, MIDI etc.)”. The Mega 2560 gets double the memory (256 kB). Both boards keep their respective form factors, so all shields will still fit. There is also rumours of a board with integrated Ethernet.

The new boards are already available from SparkFun at the same price as the boards they replace:

Arduino Uno – $30
Arduino Mega 2560 – $65

The old ones are sold at a discount while stocks last:

Arduino Mega – $50
Arduino Duemilanove – $25
