Physical tone matrix

no comments

As an update to yesterday’s post on the Tone Matrix, here’s a very stylish realization from the Reenigne blog. Featuring 16×16 LED lights (just like the Flash app),  the same number of switches (using simple wire and conducting through the finger), and an Arduino / ATmega328 controller.

Monome as Tone Matrix

The Tone Matrix by Andre Michelle is making its rounds. It seems this shouldn’t be too difficult to implement in hardware, using the 4×4 button pad. Or in other words, a 16×16 Monome.

First Eitech model ready

no comments

From the Eitech kit I recently bought, I’ve built the fist model. Quite fun, and looks good. It was not difficult to put together, however it took some time getting used to the different pieces. Also, there were some very small places one had to get to in order to put on the nuts. Finally, the instructions could have been a bit more elaborate at some points. Or rather, they could have included more steps. By doing too many things at once, the pictures sometimes became a bit confusing and unclear. The instructions contained 16 steps to build this car. If it had been a Lego model, it would probably have been three times that number, for the same number of parts.

Here’s some building and finished pictures.

Jesus was not a pirate

Best take on the pirate analogy so far. From md65536 on Slashdot:

We obviously need new terminology. By labeling people who let’s say “back up” data as “pirates”, the word “pirate” has come to mean something harmless, even cool. Yet the word is still used in the traditional sense to describe people who attack at sea, and destroy rather than create, and kill viciously, and actually take something away from people.

The pirate analogy is a bad one for copying data. The jesus analogy works better I think… he made some copies of fish and bread and distributed it free of charge.

People who copy data should henceforth be referred to as “miracle workers.” Now try to paint them in the same exaggeratedly bad light with that name.
